View Events

To view the event calendar, click on the Events tab at the top of the page.  On the Events page, there are several different views available including monthly, weekly, and daily along with a flat list of events.  Click on the link for the particular event that you wish to view.

On the right side of the Home page, there is a list of the next 20 events.

Events added to the main calendar are automatically shown on the respective chapter pages, so you can view a chapter's page to see the list of chapter-specific events.

Search for an Event

Near the top of the Events page there is a link for the Search page.  Also, the is a search field at the bottom of the Events page.

Add an Event

When you log into the POCA site and go to the Events page, you will see a big blue plus-sign marked "Add Event" near the top of the page.   (Be sure to log-in first, or you won't see the sign.)  Click the sign and fill-in the fields.  Be sure to set the Category field to the appropriate POCA chapter name.  See the Known Problems list below.

When you click the Add Event button at the bottom of the page, the event will be sent to the queue for approval.  This is necessary to prevent malicious users from adding and modifying events.  Approvals typically take from a few minutes to as much as a day.  (Webmasters occasionally sleep.)

Note: If the event was on the calendar the prior year, contact the webmaster who can pull the event from the archive and update it.

Modify an Event

Log into the POCA site.  View the event you wish to modify.  In the upper right hand corner of the event's page, there will be a small icon showing a page and a yellow pencil.  (You must be logged in to see it.)  Click that icon.  Make the changed that you wish then click the Update Events button.  The event change will be sent to the queue for approval.

Delete an Event

To delete an event, contact the webmaster.  Note: events are automatically moved to the archive a day after they occur.

Known Problems

  • The calendar should automatically handle the time changes due to daylight saving time.  However, it can be flaky.  Double-check the event hours after you save the event.
  • The repeating events does not always work right.  Double-check the repeated events on the calendar to be sure they are repeating and that they are repeating on the correct dates.
